I am a coach that is interested in every aspect of the game. I currently work as the 1st Team Assistant Coach for Houston Dynamo FC in the MLS. I am completing my UEFA A/Elite Youth A License.
In 2011, I began analyzing and researching the game of football at the age of 16. By 2012, I had started posting my own tactical breakdowns online through articles and videos on various websites. In 2013, I first connected with the writers at Spielverlagerung, where we began working together to further break down the game and improve our understanding. Finally in 2014 we started the English Spielverlagerung, where I wrote through to 2020. To this day, we frequently discuss our work and the modern trends of the game.
Between 2013-2016, I worked as a volunteer assistant coach and video analyst for the University of North Georgia’s men’s soccer team in addition to coaching at the youth and high school levels in Georgia. I have worked with every level of player from recreational to the national team, both male and female. I began coaching at the age of 18, after I had stopped playing.
Between 2016-2017 I worked as the 1st Team Video Analyst for Columbus Crew SC under former USMNT Head Coach Gregg Berhalter where I was responsible for Tactical Analysis of Columbus Crew SC as well as the opponent. I joined this MLS First-Team technical staff at the age of 21.
Between 2017-2020, I worked privately with USMNT players on an individual basis in order to improve the players’ tactical development. Through training drills, analysis, and videos I improved the players’ positioning, body position, scanning (before, during, and after the action), decision-making, and execution. I believe everything comes from what a player sees and thinks, therefore everything is done to improve the individual perception and decision-making.
Between 2017-2020, I worked in roles such as the associate head coach at Flowery Branch High School, the head coach and head of the video department at United Futbol Academy in Georgia, and as a coach on the Georgia Olympic Development Program (ODP) staff.
Between 2020-2021, I joined the Atlanta United FC as an assistant coach and video analyst under Tony Annan in the academy – from there I moved to working with the 1st team as a video analyst and then moved into an analysis and coaching role overseeing the USL and Academy pathway. Some of my responsibilities included assisting in creating, preparing, and delivering training sessions. I also provided tactics and strategy for game-plans against upcoming opponents, analyzed our matches, model, and trainings both qualitatively and quantitatively. Finally, I helped create, feedback, and improve the club’s game model and principles of play.
Between 2021-2023, I joined the Houston Dynamo FC Academy as the head coach of the U17 team. I oversaw all on and off-field development of the players. The style of play of the team was a patient, positional approach to the offensive phase combined with a high pressing, high intensity approach to the defensive phase.
Most recently in January of 2023, I joined Ben Olsen’s 1st team staff as an Assistant Coach at the Houston Dynamo. My main responsibilities include organizing and planning training sessions, assisting in delivering training sessions, preparing and delivering team meetings, tactical review of our games, tactical preview of opponents, and live tactical feedback during matches. I joined this MLS First-Team coaching staff at the age of 28.
I have earned the following licenses, degrees, and certifications:
- UEFA A/Elite Youth A (Currently Completing)
